Secret of Being Content

Philippians 4:12-13  12I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. 13I can do everything through him who gives me strength.

So what is the secret?  The secret is that to be content isn't complicated.  It doesn't depend on "having that boyfriend/girlfriend", "having that job", "having a bigger house", "more money", or "that neat sports car".  Not that these things are not good in themselves, but satisfaction from these "things" is only temporary.

Bottom line?  There is little that one can do in life that will make him/her truly happy.  One must depend on God for happiness and meeting one's needs.  Once I give up my illusion of control and rely totally on Him, good things begin to happen.  He hasn't let me down.

I've learned that a view of a beautiful, clear night time sky, sitting in the grass, playing and singing with grandchildren, sailing along with the wind, volunteering to help others, calling and visiting those in need, ... well, God is present always and He is with us.  We only need to acknowledge that He is and place our trust in Him.  It isn't about "me", it's about Him.

When you plan your day, do you only "allow" time for God or is He the center of your life?  Where is He in your schedule?  It is really simple; remember the old saying "let go and let God".
